A fabulous hike through the remote borderlands of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.
Each country had its own distinctive landscape: rugged limestone peaks in Albania, pine forests in Kosovo, and alpine meadows in Montenegro that were pink and red with the autumn foliage of wild blueberry bushes.

The genuine hospitality we received at the huts and guesthouses was a real highlight of the trip. The home cooked local food we had at each evening was plentiful and delicious.
The itinerary is very well thought out and the route is easy to follow and well marked. The trip would be better named ‘Highlights of the Peaks of the Balkans’ as several sections of the classic Peaks of the Balkans trail are replaced by road transfers to avoid large sections of road walking. This allows for an extra day in the Prokletije National Park where we did a fabulous 3 peak ridge hike.
The trip was seamlessly organized and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Zbulo again!

Everything went very smoothly--logistics, materials, reservations, etc. The route materials were very complete, maybe too long and a bit repetitive. It was nice to have the phone and Gamin, but the Garmin UI is finicky. I found the GPX track on my phone easier to use. The guesthouses were generally good, meals were fine. The weakest guesthouse of Leonardi, w

But overall, it was a very good trip and well organized.

We had a very friendly and nice gide.
The sea, trails and mountains are beautiful.
My suggestion is that Zbulo could play an active part in helping the environment with cleaning the waste and plastic on the trails.
Give tourists the acces to a trash-picking-gripper and bags for waste in exange for something (like a free drink ore discount). ✌️

BORDER CROSSING PERMITS
As you are planning to take on the cross border trails of the Peaks of the Balkans, the High Scardus or the Via Dinarica, you have surely come across the need for border crossing permits. These permits are part of a special application system used by hikers and cyclists who wish to cross the “green borders” between Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro or North Macedonia. Even if you don’t book a trip with us and prefer to explore these trails independently, we can assist you with obtaining your permits.
