Improvement
It was very stressful to be left behind for three
hours. However, it was consistent with having freedom to operate, which I really
appreciated. Perhaps, double checking the time and location of any waiting place
would go a long way.
Also, the driver hit a dog on the way to Shkodra. That was just awful.
Please don’t use that driver.
Highlights
I really loved Mt. Harapit and Grebaja Valley. Both
places were beautiful and had a true “mountain” feel. The other hikes were good
too, but those stand out for true mountain scenery (my favorite).
For others
Having done this trek, I really do recommend a guide.
The markings were frequently good but often pointed to different directions at
once. Apps like maps.me help, but they sometimes show nonexistent trails
(including one that, according to the guide, leads to a precipice). Without a
guide pointing or marking the route, this trek would have been a headache at
best.
Also, there were very few people on some of the trails, so there would not
have been people to ask for help along the way. Covid may have affected this
one, though.
