Valbone – Persllopi Pass – Cerem

The first major mountain stage climbs from Valbona towards Persllopi Pass (2,039 m). Beyond the pastures, the trail enters a treeless alpine basin beneath Mount Kolata and follows rocky karst terrain that requires steady footing.

From the pass, descend through the border highlands towards Cerem, meeting seasonal shepherds along the way. The village has limited mobile coverage and simple guesthouse accommodation, with a home-cooked dinner at the end of the stage.

When snow, weather or trail conditions make the pass unsuitable, use the alternative route and transfer described in the navigation materials. Do not attempt the high crossing when the advised alternative is in effect.
